Blue pill, red pill
This series explores the contrast between the nostalgic imagery found in postcards of São Paulo and the city’s current reality. In traditional postcards, the photos often depict an idealized version of the city that doesn’t reflect everyday life.
To illustrate this contrast, I used glasses with blue and red lenses. The blue lens allows viewers to see the old, “false reality” of the postcards, while the red lens reveals the “real thing”—the challenging and often harsh aspects of life in the city. This approach not only highlights the disparity between fantasy and reality but also encourages viewers to confront the truths of their surroundings.
